Watch your Back: Week August 21 to 27
We have one game and one (or two) expansions launching this week, as we approach the end of summer.

... and the game is Gabe Barrett's Robomon. Perhaps you remember the designer's HUNTED series; this time he is releasing a bigger project. Robomon is a 1-2 player adventure campaign game in which you are training your robot to take part in robo-fights.
Fights can take place out in the wild, so the game is organized in the style of an overland crawler. After you select your character and robot-animal, you set out to explore the surrounding area, talk to people, and complete challenges. Fights are resolved by rolling custom dice and applying modifiers. When you reach a spot of interest, you consult the accompanying adventure book to read the story. It is launching on Gamefound on August 22.
Personal opinion: Judging by the video preview by Rolling Solo, this is an immersive, fun experience - provided that you are interested in the theme. I have never played Pokemon, and don't have a thing for robots, so I'll pass.

Next, we have the Vengeance of the Empires expansion for Sea of Legends. Sea of Legends is a 1-5 player app-based pirates game in which you do pirate-y things to become the most famous pirate of the high seas. In the upcoming expansion, the Spanish and French empires are seeking to spread their control over colonies, while sightings of the Flying Dutchman and the Kraken are stirring the waters. It is launching on Kickstarter on August 23.
Personal opinion: Nothing here for me, and, least of all, the app-dependence.

Lastly, I have noted August 22 as the launching date for the Hippocrates expansion, however I don't see any mention of it in either the Game Brewer's Facebook page or the game's page on BGG, so we'll see if it's still happening.
Let's enjoy the quiet indeed, because these days the announcements start to pile up to promise a very busy September.
What does Robomon have to do with Pokémon? The only thing I think I know about Pokémon is, it's some sort of Japanese animated character, that's now a large franchise.
Athena, you don't like robots? But what about Wall•E? 🙂
I remember reading that the Hippocrates expansion will go straight to pre-order or something.
With the incoming RoboMon campaign, I'm not sure I'm too excited about the prospect of having to face a tough decision: "Do you want this alluring game at too high a price for you or will you pass?". The designer said it would cost $100, which is the higher end of what I'm willing to put in a single board game, but then you have shipping and VAT so, we'll see. I have passed on the previous Gabe Barett projects because it ended up costing too much in the end, once everything was factored in.
