Streets is live (The Streets are ours)
Update: Streets is live on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 29 days. You may back either the standard or the Deluxe edition of the game, and also combine it with Villagers.
Our preview post below was published on August 27.
Streets is a 1-5 player tile laying game about building and populating a city by the creator of Villagers. It will launch on Kickstarter on September 1.
In Streets, your goal is to earn the most money by placing buildings and people who are attracted to them. There are four categories of people with different preferences each: Hipsters, Tourists, Shoppers and Parents. At the beginning of the game, you will place the Central Station tile and the City Park tile next to each other, with one facing horizontally and the other vertically. Then, you will draw a hand of 3 tiles. On each round, you will place a tile next to another building, and also place the character meeple that prefers that type of building on it (e.g. hipsters like the Art Gallery). Each building tile has icons that show which kind of people frequent it and also how it scores.
Once a street is enclosed (e.g. a horizontal row blocked by vertical tiles on both ends), scoring is performed: you receive the money you earn from buildings and meeples. Then, the meeples move to another non-enclosed street, in the building of choice of the player who did the enclosing. Two extra modules, Consultants and Business Tokens, make the game playable on advanced level.
In the solo mode, you will compete against a rival AI which can be adjusted to play at high or low difficulty.
