Black Rose Wars: Rebirth is a 1-4 player standalone expansion to the competitive hand management game Black Rose Wars. This new chapter takes place 25 years after the original and pits mages against each other in a fight for supremacy and restoration of order. It will launch on Kickstarter on August 24.
The Black Rose Wars base game was not solo out of the box. One had to either PnP the solo components or purchase the Sator expansion. Rebirth is rumored to contain a new solo mode that has the player face the Avatars - the evocations of the Black Rose. Further details will presumably be revealed when the campaign goes live.
The expansion comes with 7 new schools of magic (Technomancy, Hex, Alchemy, Nightmare, Agony, Shamanic and Forgotten) with associated spells that players can choose from. The new room tiles that constitute the board will start out destroyed and overgrown with vegetation, with their effect printed on them. Over the course of the game, players will get the chance to activate them and flip them over to their restored side. New implant cards will upgrade the evocations that the players summon, and there will be some changes in the layout of the scoring board. Finally, plastic trays will allow players to store each mage's components more conveniently.
