Out Style is live (Streetball style)
Update: Out Style has launched on Kickstarter, and the campaign will run for 16 days. You may pledge for a copy of the game, and if you do it fast, you save one whole dollar (early bird).
Our preview post below was published on May 10.
After publishing a game about tennis, and one about volleyball, Medieval Lords is bringing to Kickstarter Out Style, a 1-2 or 4 players basketball-themed card game. It is scheduled to launch on May 12.
The game starts with one player drawing 8 Offense cards, and the opponent drawing 4 Defense cards. Both players also start with 3 character cards which grant them special abilities. An Offense card is selected and played face-down, then the defender has to decide whether to play their card or let Offense through. If it plays the Defense card, the Offense card is revealed, numerical values are compared, and if Defense is higher, they become Offense in the next round. If Offense is higher, it gains the style points of the card and starts a new Offense round. However: the more Offense cards one plays, the more they increase the value of Defense in subsequent turns.
If Defense ever runs of cards without having snatched the ball, they become Outstyled. Offense gains points and scores one basket, then roles are swapped. The goal of the game is to score two baskets.
In the solo mode of the game, you follow the rules of 1vs.1 with the following modifications: you don't use characters, the AI goes on Offense first, and it can't be Outstyled. You first reveal 10 cards from the AI's Offense deck, to see which cards they AI will NOT be using this round. Then, you decide if you want to play a Defense card, and if you do, flip two AI Offense cards face-up to compare values. If one card gets past your Defense, it is what the AI plays. If both cards get past, you score the highest value for the AI. When the AI is in Defense, it will always play a card from its deck.
