Renovations in The Castles of Burgundy
The new edition of Stefan Feld's The Castles of Burgundy will be debuted at EssenSpiel this October.
There are two major differences between the new and the old edition: one is purely cosmetic. Up to this day, a picture of the game board could be found in a dictionary, illustrating the word 'bland'. The new edition is much more colourful, although not everyone considers this an improvement.
The other is the inclusion of every single expansion released for the game so far. The 10th of those expansions, which was just a promo in the Brettspiel Adventskalender of 2018, was a solo mode. (You may check the rules in the promo description). Therefore the game is now playable by 1 to 4 players.
All in all, The Castles of Burgundy contains eleven expansions: ten previous releases, and one brand new.
None of us owns the game, so we can't offer an opinion unfortunately. It has been discussed in the game's BGG page but I couldn't find a clear answer there either. Perhaps start a new thread and ask? Or you could always try the 1PG.
Do either of you have experience with the solo-expansion? If so, do you think it works well as a full-fledged solo-experience, or is it just "nice to have".
