The Ratcatcher is live (Rat-infested streets)
Update: The Ratcatcher is live on Kickstarter, and the campaign will run for 27 days. You may back the game or get 'just a slice' with the PnP.
Our Preview post below was published on April 2.
The Ratcatcher, Solo Adventure is a solitaire game about saving the kingdom of Brie from a rodent infestation. It will launch on Kickstarter on April 14.
In the game, you take on the role of a Ratcatcher who is trying to catch as many rats as possible while also gathering pieces of magical cheese. You win if you kill the Nemesis Rat or if you collect 10 pieces of cheese. On each turn, the Ratcatcher spends action points to move, deploy a trap or attack rats. Attacks are resolved by rolling dice. If you roll equal to or higher than your accuracy number, you wound a rat. Some rats have defense, though, so you have to attack them repeatedly. If you are in a space with a magical cheese, and there are no rats around it, you may collect it. The rats take their turn as well: they move towards their target (depending on rat type) and if you are in their space, they bite. If there are 5 rats in a cheese space, they eat it.
Each time the rats consume a cheese piece, it goes onto the Nemesis Rat board. This activates a series of attacks and spawns of super-rats with special abilities. If the rats ever consume 10 pieces of cheese, or manage to mortally wound the Ratcatcher, this cheesy adventure is over.
Well, Athena, that's cheaper than on the Platypus Website, but I'm a bit iffy on it, too. I need to 'research' it more. Did you see the movie Willard? They used peanut butter to lure the rats to swarm over a person. Apparently, rats and mice (probably squirrels, too) love peanut butter.
P.S. I had to 'research' "FLGS". Ah, I learned something today, thanks to you. :^)
My FLGS has it on pre-order for 50 euro and says expected in March 2021. I'm not sure if I want this enough, to be honest.
I was lookin' at this not too long ago. On the Platypus Industries Website, you can pre-order it for $69. It's says the estimated delivery is next month (Jan 21). It's comin' from Australia, though, so shipping will probably be steep, unless you live there, of course.
Agreed. I'm waiting to see the price as well.
Hmm, I'm intrigued by this one. I can see myself supporting it if the price is fair.
