Veilwraith is live (Memories in black)

Update: Veilwraith has launched on Kickstarter, and the campaign will run for 23 days. There are four pledge options: 1) just the base game. 2) the game plus the Absolution expansion. 3) the game plus playmat. 4) Hall In: game, expansion, playmat.

Our preview post below was published on April 5.

Veilwraith is a solitaire fantasy card game set in the world of Tristan Hall's previous games, Gloom of Kilforth and Shadows of Kilforth. It is scheduled to launch on Kickstarter on April 7.

The game consists of five scenarios (Vignettes) that you play in sequence, to complete the campaign. To begin, you create the threat deck with the enemies designated by the scenario, plus special 'key' cards that give you bonuses when you find them and 'defeat' them. The actions available to the player are: Explore, Fight, and Influence, and each of them is 'powered' (boosted) by the use of tokens. When you take any one of these actions to face a threat, the action card changes place with the other two on the power track, so its power changes for the subsequent round.

The gameplay of Veilwraith has elements of deck building: you start with a deck of memory cards, and, over the course of the game, you may add in enemies or make use of the gained key cards. If you are unable to deal with a threat during your turn, it deals damage and deducts from your 'spirit' tokens. If you ever run out of spirit, you lose the game. If you deplete the threat deck before completing the scenario objective, you shuffle in an arch-enemy, and if you draw him, you instantly lose.
