Genotype: A Mendelian Genetics Game is live
Genotype: A Mendelian Genetics Game is a 1-5 player dice drafting and set collection game in which you become an assistant scientist to Gregor Mendel, the 19th century geneticist.
You will be cultivating and collecting pea plants in a Moravian monastery in order to study their hereditary traits: seed shape, flower and pod colour, and plant height. On each turn, you will first place your action markers on the monastery locations to take new plant cards, acquire tools or garden (collect completed plants). The next phase is Plant Breeding: you roll the dice and allocate them on the board of genetic traits. Finally, you have the option of purchasing upgrades that will enable you to roll extra dice or hold more plant cards. The player who completes the most pea plant cards, wins the game.
In the solo mode, you will be competing against Brother Johann. He will be occupying action spaces, taking dice, and completing his own research cards. And as you will be both working in the House of God, you won't even be able to curse him.
The solo mode is in the final stages of development and still needs art for the AI cards. You may choose to pledge for just the basic version of the game or get the deluxe one with metal coins, wooden components and glass markers. The campaign will run for 29 days.
