Frostpunk: The Board Game is live (All along the Frost-tower)

Update: Frostpunk: The Board Game has launched on Kickstarter and the campaign will run for 22 days. You may back either the core game or the Collector's edition (with minis). Both pledges include the Frostlander expansion.

Our preview post below was published on October 1.

Frostpunk: The Board Game is a 1-4 player cooperative resource management game in which you lead a colony of survivors in a frozen post-apocalyptic world. It will launch on Kickstarter on October 6.

The game revolves around a generator tower built in the middle of the settlement, that provides heat to the colony. Your goal is to effectively allocate workers, make sure people have food and shelter, and construct buildings that will enhance everyone's life in the icy wilderness. You will also send out teams of scouts to explore other regions and bring back supplies and new people. At certain points in the game, laws will be passed which may force you to make uncomfortable decisions.

Each round is split in 9 phases: Dawn, Morning, Generator, Weather, Preparation, Action, Dusk, Hunger, and Night phase. After moving the round marker, you start each day with drawing and resolving an event card. Then, you check the Generator for malfunctions, and adjust the number of the people who have gotten sick. In the Weather phase, you draw a Weather card, and subsequently collect food, and check the progress of the people you have sent out to expeditions. Then, you manage your citizen numbers and take actions on the board. At Dusk, you draw and resolve a Dusk card, and then feed your people. Finally, at Night, citizens return to their homes, if they have any, or fall ill if they don't.

Frostpunk will be available in two editions, one with minis and one without. The minis for Kickstarter backers will be pre-painted with a wash. You may check the Kickstarter preview.
