You start the game with a deck of basic cards and a unique hero card. You also start with a set amount of energy which you draw from your home world. As the game progresses, you will invade more worlds and thus draw more energy. On your turn, you can do 4 actions (5 or 6 actions in later rounds): Draft a card from the galactic supply (the market), Deploy units from your hand to the war zone, Invade a world by using said units, Use the action of one of your cards, or Pass.

The Nemesis AI comes with a deck of cards. These cards either let it draft a card from the market or let it invade a world. The game lasts for 10 rounds, and if you manage to score more victory points than the Nemesis, you win. This AI deck is also compatible with the Core Worlds: Galactic Orders expansion.
