20 Days in the Valley
Earthborne Rangers arrived, made it to my table immediately and it looks like it's not going anywhere soon. I'd like to write about it, but it will take ages before I'm finished so let's try something new. A diary of sorts. Some irregular short posts about my adventures with the game in 2023. We can go on this journey together.
Publisher Fantasy Flight Games has lost that magic feeling in recent years. A game by former employees Andrew Navaro and Andrew Fisher however, with card play co-designed by the Sadler brothers sounded very promising to me. It also had a few very nice traits:
you can play one-handed solo or coop, and add in / drop out players (or characters) during the campaign
the theme is about interacting with nature, not killing stuff
environmental sustainability was prioritized during production
Of course I had to offset their good intentions by putting over 500 plastic sleeves on the cards. Bad, bad, boy.
But, I've read the rulebook and created a character, so let's go. You can follow along on my journey this year, but beware: everything in a campaign game can be considered a spoiler and I've decided to just write about everything. You've been warned. You'll be spoiled.
I was so close to backing this one, in the end I just thought it was way too expensive for what you are getting. However, in light of the newly anounced reprint and expansion...

It might be time for a second look so I'll be really interested on your thoughts as to how it plays....
I'm jealous! Waiting for my copy to arrive sometime next month.
I see you have the deluxe map (which is awesome, even though I wish they used the paper used for real life maps instead of the regular thin paper). Did you also get the lore book?
