We just returned from an amazing 9-day vacation. I was relaxing after doing some yard work today, as I took the day off to adjust to the time change (I've never travelled "back in time" before 🙂) and I popped onto Marketplace to see what's new.
There's a gentleman locally who's had several games listed for a while. I bought Caverna: Cave Farmers from him a couple years ago. He always has great prices and takes good care of his games. One game I've had my eye on for quite a while, is Blackout Hong Kong.
And for $20 (regular price $76 CDN).... It has a new home. 😊 Woo!!!!
The price has been at $20 for a while. Why I waited so long, I'm not sure since it obviously had my interest. What made it happen today though, was another game that was new to his "revised" list and one that I've been curious about for a long time, but the price has kept me at bay... Euphoria: Build a Better Dystopia. As our regulars here know, I'm a Stonemaier games fan and although I don't want to own all games in the Stonemaier lineup, this one has held my interest. However, as a solo gamer I need the expansion, Euphoria: Ignorance is Bliss.
The big deterant has been price for me. I would be between $100-$120 CDN depending on where I purchase it if I bought both the base game and expansion. That's alot for a game that I'm not 100% certain I'll love right away. But my trust for Stonemaier games has me pretty confident I will. It's just more abstract of a presentation than I'm typically drawn to I think.
The other thing that's held me back was I've heard several times, including from Jamey Steigmaier himself that it can be tough to teach, especially for newer gamers. But then I thought - since when should that matter to me!? I'm a 98% of the time solo gamer and I love to be challenged. BRING IT ON!!!
Today I picked up both the base game AND expansion for .... drum roll.... $50 CDN. Woo!!!!! Amazing!
I'm so excited. It's highly unlikely I'll be diving into both tonight, but Euphoria is definitely up first. 😀
I should add, to make the deal even sweeter, I was pleasantly suprised to learn it came with GameTrayz organizers... WOO HOO!!!!
😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
I never even heard of Euphoria. How cool is that? The game gives some seriously creepy Orwellian vibes. Great bargain price!
