As the college soccer season gets underway at the end of this week, the stress that's connected to it ramps up. It's not the soccer side of things that's stressful... as always it's the politics and the "business" side of things that's BRUTAL and disheartening. 😡
As I deal with more BS today, I was reminded that the first Apiary expansion was released today!!!! WOO HOO!!!! So I did a little "stress purchase" to give me a smile for a bit this afternoon: 😁
Apiary: Expanding the Hive is a "more stuff" expansion. From the BGG page:
It features a few bigger additions (7 new hive mats, 15 unique frames, and 15 new seed cards), along with a greater variety of tiles and tokens, plus a few updated components.
... You had me at "Apiary expansion" 🤣
While I was on the Stonemaier Games page, why would I only purchase ONE thing since the cost for this expansion was VERY reasonable ($20 CAD Champions price), so I snagged a couple items from my wishlist now as well:
Tapestry: Plans and Ploys expansion. This is the first expansion for Tapestry from 2020. I plan to have them all (possibly by Christmas)
Revised Civ Pack (Tapestry). Again, for the price of ($19 CAD as a Champion) I thought, why not? I have no issues with the game as it is, but I want the best possible version of any game I own. Trusting Stonemaier Games, I added it to my cart.
This is not so much an expansion as additional contents to increase the variety of the base game.
Those are my favorite expansions. I don't care for new mechanics or clever twists or modules or additional new systems... If I like the game I like the core, I just want more variety in something that has become very familiar.
Also it seems to be meant to be added straight into the core box, with nothing but a simple cardboard packaging. Good call! As someone who always dread throwing boxes, I like this approach.
