I'm "only slightly delayed" in finishing the first Game of Thrones book. Only by a few decades though, so that's not bad. 😂 I had many people telling me to watch the show over the years. I know I'd like it, as I love medieval stuff. However, I was bound and determined to read the books first (which may take forever mind you). After reading the first book, I was VERY glad I stuck with my self-promise, as I loved it! I'm excited to carry on into the series.
After finishing that, the digital Game of Thrones board game was on sale on Steam, so I snagged it up. I'm enjoying it more after a few plays now. Not the best game ever, but by no means bad either. I like it.
I've had my eye on our local FB Marketplace as there was someone selling a copy of the tabletop game for $20, and only played once. Plus it came with a Plano organizer they purchased for it. Fairly quickly, the price dropped to $10.
Enter "the Bargain Ninja"....
I'm honestly not sure how much this will get played just yet. But I thought, "for $10, I'm crazy not to since I do enjoy it." It's not easy to find from what I can tell, here in Canada and the last retail price I see is $60 CDN.
I did however see in the forums on BGG that there's a fan-made solo mode, that uses 20 cards and is based on the Raiders of the North Sea solo A.I. which is great! I'm excited to put that into action soon!!
Last night I sat down to check out the board, components etc and I couldn't believe how big the board was! Wow! For such a 'regular sized box' this is a huge map! 😀
I'm excited to experiment with things solo to see how fun it is. I know you only use certain sections of the map depending on which House you choose to play as and I'm ok with that. Plus, if I actually find a couple people to join me in a game now and again, it'll be even better! 😁
I really enjoyed the books (haven't seen the show after season one). I think if you'd have waited any longer you could have actually been payed to take it off their hands! 😆 But $10 is absolutely great.
