Well, I've done something very out of character, but I'm curious of the outcome.
I've officially ordered the softcover book of Ironsworn.
I thought I posted about my first dive into this RPG a year or two ago, but I couldn't seem to find it?? Regardless, my dive was only as far as character creation and a bit of backstory. Having said that, this game pops into mind quite often.
I've mentioned in a previous post that I've never been an RPG guy. That said, the more into the gaming hobby I go, the more I love the idea of RPGs, in terms of an exercise in creativity, imagination and "mental bicep curls". I see RPGs in three ways:
1) Mental exercise
2) A way to use my imagination more often again, like in the good ol' days
3) By exercising the creativity side of things, it will only enhance my art and music hobbies
Granted, I have the free pdf version of the Ironsworn book downloaded (which is what I was using for my character creation). That said, when I play games at the table, I do my best to stay away from technology and screens. It just also seems cumbersome to me to be going through pages on my tablet, vs flipping through a physical book.
I'm hoping that having my first RPG physical book, will create some new adventures in gaming for me in some new and exciting ways. Not that I'm board of my games in any way shape or form. 😉
You talked a bit about Ironsworn in your report on Deadball:
