It FINALLY arrived! My new content for Maquis.
This was my first Kickstarter experience. It also may be my last. Don't get me wrong; it was smooth, it was a very fair price, no surprises and Side Room Games updated everyone (when they could).
But the WAITING....
DEFINITELY NOT FOR ME.
It felt like forever. I may be whining, but I also know the type of gamer I have become. When I purchase a game, I don't want to wait months for it to arrive. A couple weeks, sure... but not months! From the time I hit "purchase" I'm totally pumped to get my new game / expansion to the table.
Waiting is not something I want to do in my gaming hobby.
Sorry for the rant. I'm very excited to play this ASAP. But it's been a learning experience for me. If a kickstarter looks exciting and it doesn't end up making it to retail... So be it. "It wasn't meant to be" will be my new gaming policy. 😉
Like Zerbique, I don't mind waiting for a KS to fulfill, considering I have plenty of games already. That said, I decided not to play the recently received Testament before I get the errata pack. Now the wait annoys me. 😄
I really never minded the KS waiting times. I rather love having random updates about games from time to time, virtually owning a game that only exists as a dim potentiality, and above all, the shattering of the timeline, that you can pick up years after you pledged the game, and dive into it as if it were yesterday...
It creates non-linear links in your experience of time and life and this, this feels so good. No wonder that I am a KS addict. It was meant for people like me!
Derek, that was your 1st Kickstarter 'adventure'? Wow! Yes, the waiting is totally annoying, and it seems the projected date for fulfillment is usually very optimistic. I think JW had waited for Seize the Bean for a year or two, and he finally gave-up. The estimated delivery was February 2018, but as of today, it still hasn't been delivered to anyone!
P.S. You're not whining or ranting. I doubt anyone likes the very lengthy waits.
Usually I am pumped after ordering a kickstarter project, but after several months to a year my enthusiasm just peters out to the point where I am completely ambivalent by the time it arrives.
P.S. I like your new gaming policy.
