You may have read my post about the latest Conan game on Gamefound. I was extremely disappointed by it. I never got into Monolith's Conan because I didn't want a bucketload of minis. I did not purchase Age of Conan because it doesn't play solo. The new Conan game has lots of dice, it's an adventure game... But it seems utterly convoluted, boring, and generic.
So I decided to blow some money up and get this...
This seems more like it!
I ordered it from the US so I paid a hefty lot in shipping fees (and I dread the FedEx invoice about the VAT which is most likely sneakily upcoming). In retrospect, I should have backed it when I had the possibility. But right now, I'm happy!
In May, I decided to treat myself. So I got games I really wanted, not loads of games I feel bad about afterward.
Sensei Derek would be proud to hear that I got a new in shrink copy of Direwild for a quarter of the price, a game about "crafting" weird creatures to battle monsters in a dungeon crawler setting.
I also got Dobbers, a fairly simple deck-building adventure game with a solo mode that sounds fun. It was handsomely priced on the second-hand market.
To play with my son, I purchased Heldentaufe, another adventure game. Not cheap by any means, but I bargained a bit to lower the cost. It's very pretty and comes in a smallish box.
I also finally found a copy of Bag of Dungeon at a decent price (below that of the KS, then). I'll try it, and probably trade it then.
I also found a cheap All-In for Age of Towers, a game that doesn't look crazy but that may finally fulfill my lust for a decent Tower Defense game (which is not to be confused with threat management games as most so-called "Tower Defense" board games seem to do).
And I received a giant game I had pre-ordered a while ago: Dungeon Saga Origins. I didn't expect it to be so huge!
My backlog has proved to be robust, it will be able to handle that many more games.
