LONERS LOUNGE

Well, I feel a sense of victory - despite wanting to, I haven't back this game! (The BGG Link is here). After JW's bold and shocking move back in September, I'd stated I would reassess my involvement in the hobby. I'm not at all ready to bail entirely, but the fact I could easily resist this backing shows me I can resist every Solo game that appears. 😄 Prior to September, I would've backed this game with little hesitation. I have several other Salt & Pepper Games I like, such as Resist! and Witchcraft!, so this had a little promise just on that basis, in addition to being Solo Only, not too complicated, and it didn't have a giant box (~8in x 8in x 2in/20cm x 20cm x 5cm). Attaining this small goal (resisting a game that's right up my alley) does give me hope in achieving my larger goal of significantly reducing my game purchases going forward. I've been buying them faster than I'm playin' em for far too long, so it seems I'm finally coming to my senses. 🤡 I'll still back a Solo Only game now and then, but if I really feel compelled to buy something "board game", I'm gonna try and focus on an Expansion or upgraded components for a game I already own. Hey, I like bling now and then. 👑 Maybe some upgraded stuff for Fantastic Factories, instead of a new game.

I hadn't planned on getting this game, but I had a years-old credit (for an unfulfilled order) at a store that wouldn't give me my money back for the unfulfilled (and subsequently canceled by me) order. They would only give me store credit, but it seemed like they never had anything I really wanted. Since I've been trying to scale back my 'games expansion', I wanted to use this credit before the end of the year and just get it behind me. Anyway, I finally settled for this game, as it was the most appealing one they had that roughly matched my credit value. The layout below is recommended for your first game. There's a 'dungeon book', which is separate from the Rulebook, that has 20 different layouts (each with different Special Rules), corresponding to various difficulty levels. Plus, there's also an additional mechanism that's separate from the tile layout, to adjust the difficulty. I've only taken one turn so far. My hand of cards and the Rulebook are on a nearby TV tray.
