This long weekend here in Canada, has been excellent - though no what we had planned. The intention was to get to the cottage. However, nearly 40 degrees with humidity and an off-grid cottage don't mix well for a relaxing weekend. We also had storm threats early in the weekend. So we opted to stay home... and had ZERO plans (which always feels so good). 😁
This allowed plenty of time at the table, which works well for me as begining this week my time becomes very consumed with college soccer camps/tryouts beginning, my final couple music gigs before the college season and oh... my real job. Can't forget that. 🤔
Yesterday, with plenty of time on my hands, it was only right to bring Frostpunk to the table for some survival decisions and scenarios to exercise my brain.
The full table makes me smile. I love the look of Frostpunk in all it's glory. However, there's nothing glorifying about the decisions you have to make, and the situations you are forced to deal with to help your people survive! This shot is from part way through my game.
As if we don't have enough stress in our days eh? Look at the kinds of things I was dealing with yesterday afternoon. Whoa! 😮
In the end, my people died of starvation near the end of Day 6. 😥 I blame part of this on me taking in two groups of people throughout this game. This is a good decision at times because they may bring some resources with them. However, it's not good if you don't have the means to feed and care for them! 🤔 Clearly, I thought wrong as I couldn't get enough food to feed my 20+ workers on Day 6. In my defense, regardless of my people passing from starvation, the "not so good" was really piling up on me. So much to deal with in the coming days. It wasn't looking good and definitely was not getting easier (not that this game ever gets easier).
And as weird as it is to say - I LOVED every minute of it!!
