The road is getting longer! I have to deal with the 9 Obstacles (left to right) currently on the Road (bottom-center), to make it through this 'day'.
There's an interesting 'mechanism' that's probably present in many other games, but I just can't think of which ones right now. When you draw an Encounter Card, the actions you take are dictated by the symbols on the back of the next card. In the example below, because of the symbol on the back of the card in the draw pile on the left (there's only one card - for the photo), I must fight the Thief, who has a Strength value of 2. If I lose the fight, bye-bye to a Life point.
If there are no symbols on the Encounter card to the left, I'd do the action(s) at the bottom of the drawn card. In the case of the Thief, I'd gain one Morale, but lose an Item.
On this one it's a Trade (for Items you're carrying), and the Thief's trade value is 4.
Here, I have to fight the Thief and draw a Fatality card (which is added to the end of the current day's road).
Fatality cards are pretty harsh. In this instance, if I don't have the Gas Mask, I lose one Health, Energy, and Morality point. Ouch!
For it's cost, size, and fun-factor, I think The Road is a good value.
