I just finished playing the Food Chain Island PnP (I had backed the KS). The rules say it takes 20 minutes but each of my sessions lasted less than 10. I played 4 times in a row.
I'm posting here instead of writing a full article, because I don't have much to say. It's a nice puzzle. However, games like this end too soon and leave me unsatisfied. I understand that people with a hectic lifestyle may only have 8 minutes to dedicate to gaming. Not the case with me. So I should stop buying micro games.
The animals are very cute. I used at least one animal assistant to win every time, so there is space for improvement. How to improve, though? I can't tell if there is a particular strategy to implement here. I just tried to take advantage of the animals' position and ability each time, without overthinking it. I guess the 20 minutes stated in the rulebook apply if you're AP-prone. I can't be bothered to spend an eternity on my turn, and don't mind if I lose either.
Now to find a game that will keep me occupied for a while...
I admire your patience! 😄
Ok if a normal person can play in under 20 min, it should only take me 45 min to an hour per game. I just need that little extra time to consider every permutation of every possible move out to about three moves in the future.
I'm thinking about ordering the base game, yes. He doesn't offer EU-friendly shipping so i have to make sure I won't be surcharged. But it's on my wishlist, thank you! 🙂
Have you tried Puzzle Dungeon? It sounds like it would be right up your alley.
