Well, I'm not actually playing it, yet, but I'm gonna watch Rodney's Video, read the Rulebook, watch Rodney's Video again, then give it a try, or something like that. Check-out the cool, dual-purpose box:
I'm not interested in the theme so I never considered this game, but this magnetic lids turning boards are really, really great. It satisfies profoundly my sense of components minimalism.
Clay, now you've got me really psyched to get goin' on it. I'll be settin' it up later today. One card sunk your ship, so to speak? Damn! You didn't call a Mulligan? 😄
Haha, that's the fun of the game. If you don't draw a card and say "You gotta be kidding me" at least once a playthrough you are probably doing it wrong. :p
Plus, earlier in the game I had an event where a police car was driving the street and any victims in the path would ride along and possibly be saved when the cop car left. Well on the house before the exit, I pulled a card that had the victims panic outside right where there were a bunch of birds. It would have really been bad if the cop car hadn't been right there too. The next upkeep phase that cop car left the board, saving the two victims and letting me flip my Final Girl to the other side. It almost felt like cheating. :D
I've been playing this a ton since it arrived and it's a blast. The way the different boxes are used is really slick and helps it get to the table pretty quickly. Just don't expect to win easily....I've played around 7 times so far and haven't won once. But that's okay! For this game it's really not about winning or losing but more about how the story plays out in the most hilarious/crazy ways. One of my favorites so far was I was playing the Birds scenario and I drew a card saying that there were fireworks so every victim leaves their house to look at them....right into the waiting hordes of birds. I went from "This is manageable...I think I can win this" to "I am totally screwed" in one turn. Thanks victims. Thanks. :p
Well, I'm part way through my 2nd game. I was brutally slaughtered in my first game. 😄. I think I'm doin' better in this one, but I'll see. It's the Setup where there are 6 victims at the firepit. One of 'em is already dead. 😪 Clay, I see why you lost your first several games, as this one is tough. But you're right, it is a blast. Do you have all the Feature Films? I just have the Laura/Reiko one.
