The other night, I had one of those nights where I just couldn't decide what to bring to the table. I wanted to get a big game out, but my wife and I also wanted to watch our show a bit later, so time wouldn't be on my side for that. But I was so undecisive, I opted to play a couple digital games before we watched our show.
Last night (thankfully) that problem was gone. I brought out Wingspan to allow the beautiful birds some freedom on my table, while I built my bird sanctuary.
I lost against the Automa, but it was close. However, for me, it's not only satisfying to build my sanctuary and see what birds I can attract, but also when you end up being able to place some of your favourite birds. Last night I ended up with the Peregrine Falcon, the scissor-tailed flycatcher (the "cover bird" if you will) and a Great Horned Owl. 🤓
From there, I was on a time crunch (Shawna and I wanted to watch another show or two again), so I couldn't play again. BUT I did get some more animals to the table with one I hadn't played in quite a while; Squire for Hire.
I ended up with Ooru for game 1. I think he's my favourite squire for sure. No particular reason, I just like him. 😄 I'm pretty sure I've yet to "be hired" (in solo that means 25+ VPs). I finished game 1 last night with 24. SO CLOSE! Game 2 I chose Fran and she didn't fair so well. 🤣
I'm not a fan of our pets even being near the table while we have dinner or anything. And yet, I was completely fine with welcoming all these animals ONTO my table last night. 😏
I played Squire for Hire way back with my GP and liked it. Derek, in light of a Post you made a while ago about it (reminding me of it), I snagged a copy of it (and SfH: Mystic Ruins). 🙂
I just realized I don't own ANY animal-themed games. 😮 (Dinosaurs don't count, they are extinct. 😋)
