In the midst of a busy summer for us, we're into our second weekend in a row that's like a real "old fashioned weekend". Remember the kind where you would just go with the flow? You may do different things between Friday afternoon and Sunday evening, but every single thing you do is relaxing and fun! That's what's been happening! I'm not totally sure how we've managed that but I will totally take it!!!
This morning started off with a great hour and a half walk with my parents and my sister. Excellent weather too! Then I came home to enjoy a day to myself. Shawna and the girls were off having a girls day, so the place was mine! Ideally, I wanted to go fly fishing. However, two days this past week we had heavy rains so both the creek and river where I fish are both high, fast waters. 😕 So unfortunately, since I walk in the water to fish, I can't get to any of the usual pockets the fish typically are in, and the water isn't clear since the rushing water is stirring up the bottom quite a bit.
Instead, I stayed in. After lunch I played guitar for a couple hours and then... well I think you can guess since I posting here in the Loners Lounge: Game time!
First up: Scythe. My Polania faction mechs were ready to go and were up against the Rusviet and Crimean factions. Just base game components today. I actually had intended on playing a couple games, but decided to just do the one. The Rusviets took the game unfortunately. 🙄
After that, since I wanted to go fishing but couldn't, I fished at my table instead with Freshwater Fly.
I was onto Day 4 of 7 in my second campaign against the Silent Angler. And boy am I glad I decided to "go fishing" at the table today! I WON! I actually won!!! 😎 Here's a pic of my seven fish to his five. Nothing to go crazy over, but a great haul for the day! Granted, my rainbow trout is a nice size. (I actually was hoping he was the BIG GUY I still haven't caught on this trip, but he's just not quite that big.. )They just weren't biting for the Silent Angler for the first 3/4 of the game today. It was great. 🤣 I was making some really smart decisions as well!
In my first campaign, I never was able to leave the first location (you have to win to change locations). So today marks the day I leave "Crooked Fork" and head to the second location on our fishing trip: "Hunter's Cabin".
As I finish this up, my ladies are home now. Time for some dinner, maybe a campfire and definitely a celebratory whiskey to end a great day. 😉
Take that, Silent Angler! Sounds as if you're "livin' the weekend life"! Good for you, Derek. Please roast a marshmallow for me!
