I aimed to get Scythe back to the table again today, and did just that. With time to spare before coaching tonight, I went BIG and for my 140th play of Scythe at the table, I celebrated with a first: My first play vs 4-Automa opponents. I played once again today with the standard board. I also did a random draw for factions. As with yesterday I drew Albion... 🙄 "No" I thought. So I redrew and drew Crimea.
My opponents (all at the Automa level):
Saxony
Fenris
Albion
Tesla
Here's the way things looked after a couple turns. Boy those Fenris mechs (orange) are initmidating!! 😯
As the game moved on, things got CROWDED. Wow!
Many factions were after the factory without question. Fenris and Tesla were both the first factions to gain the factory today.
Again, look at the towering mechs from the Fenris faction!! I love it. It fits so well with the Rise of Fenris story and campaign, but even playing with them in a standard game creates a sense of fear ... and some BIG targets! 😛
This next pic is when the Tesla faction took control of the factory ... from my Crimeans. Vesna sent one of her mechs in to gain control of the factory, and unfortunately after my battle for the factory I wasn't able to fend her faction off. Tesla faction maintained control of the factory over the next few turns before Saxony placed their 6th star.
Here's the scores at the end of this wild game:
Me (Crimea): 77 VP 🏆
Tesla: 76 VP
Albion: 71 VP
Saxony: 69 VP
Fenris: 59 VP
I honestly thought Fenris would have done better the way they were moving about and shoving people out of territories. In the end, despite losing the factory late in the game, my key was gaining popularity with my people. Getting into that third tier made all the difference in the end to squeeze by the Tesla faction.
What a way to celebrate 140 plays at the table. Here's to the next 140!! ❤️
140 Plays! That seems like a lot for a game of its complexity/duration. Cheers, Derek! 🍻
