After In Magnificent Style and Soviet Dawn, Worthington Publishing announced that another out-of-print VPG game will get a deluxe edition. It's Keep Up The Fire!: The Boxer Rebellion, by John Welch, who later designed Cruel Necessity.
Keep up the Fire happens to be on my wishlist, despite it being described as "The worst State of Siege game I ever played. I played all but two." by Judd Vance on one of his more recent Geeklists. Now I need to remember what made me want it, as it were lists like this that helped me pick some older games. 🤔 It may just have been the time period the game is set in...
Oh well. Time enough, as there's no publishing date announced yet. And I am really happy these VPG titles will be available again.
Yes, I have. I own the old versions of Hero of Weehawken and Zulus on the Ramparts, but I'm interested in Empires in America. And maybe Ottoman Sunset .
JW, have you seen this "In Progress" Link at VPG?
"Now I need to remember what made me want it..." That made me smile, JW, as I've been there before. Glad to know it's not just me. 😀
Victory Point Games... I wasn't into serious gamin' at the time (or else I woulda paid 'em a visit), but I used to live only a few miles from them, back in what I call my "arctic days" (when I lived in New Hampshire).
VPG published the only "War Games" I have: Mound Builders and Zulus on the Ramparts! I have their Infection: Humanity’s Last Gasp, which is sort of a war game, but you're fighting viruses instead of people. I like all three.
I wanted to have a couple of War Games in my collection and MB and Zulus seemed to be at a difficulty level I could handle. Games like Advanced Squad Leader were WAY outta my league. 😀
There seems to be a boat-load of War Games in the Solo arena.
