Button Shy just uploaded lots of new games on BGG, with a release date set to 2022. Since there is very little info on them, and since I didn't want to flood the "Freshly added" posts with these, I dedicate this short Lounge post to list them all.
First, Naturopolis:
The sequel to the mist-praised Sprawlopolis and Agropolis, this wallet game is bound to be a hit.
Other games by Steven Aramini (one of the three designers of Sprawlopolis):
- Ancient Realm, a "solo civilization" game, with 18 cards (+ expansions I guess). This one sparked my interest, as always with such a theme!
- River Wild. The theme doesn't seem too inspired in this one, as it described as a game where you "build a river", which doesn't make much sense to me. So you lay cards and score stuff, basically.
Next, a Scott Almes game, The Royal Limited, apparently inspired from a Wes Anderson movie, in which you assemble trains, and score stuff (but there might be a push-your-luck element involved).
And finally, a game where the wallet cover is vertically oriented, to distract from the monotony of the former pictures: Shades of Ink, by Jay Yeates (who already designed a Button Sh wallet game and that's it).
Weird theme, I copy paste the BGG description: "Shades of Ink is a solo role playing game where you will look at inkblots, note what you see, and then fight to destroy the shades that manifest from your visions. As you accumulate knowledge, the spirits' power also accumulates until it coalesces to form one final encounter."
As a bonus I'll add Hush, a postcard game with fancy Fantasy critters.
Naturopolis and Ancient Realm definitely have my attention
I really like the portability and small footprints of the ButtonShy games. Many of them are even fun to play! 😋
Well, I'll be on the lookout for Ancient Realm and Shades of Ink on PnP Arcade next year then. Thanks!
