Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition (1-4 players) is a card version of Terraforming Mars. Yes, that game already is all about cardplay, but this new one comes without a board. It promises faster gameplay and over 200 beautifully illustrated cards.
Of course with beautifully illustrated cards, it won't have that special Terraforming Mars vibe at all. But let's wait for more information before we disqualify the game.
Ares Expedition is co-designed by Jacob Fryxelius with Sydney Engelstein and Nick Little of Aeon's End: Outcasts. It will be on Kickstarter "soon", rumour has it as soon as February.
Well, Zerbique is certainly not my real name (although I think I'm the only one on this Earth with my real first name/surname combination). I made it up at some point (I guess it was to leave reviews about Star Wars comic books, as I read them all) and frankly I can't explain it. I just liked its ridiculous character I guess (in French "bique" is a familiar name for the female goat and is often used to speak critically of a supposedly annoying old woman).
I haven't tried Keltis (yet!) but Keltis: The Card Game is really good (multiplayer indeed and with 3 players more than 2), more fun than Lost Cities in my opinion. Purely abstract though, and there is no theme (except it's green).
I might just get it! It will be my entry point in the Terraforming Mars franchise then! I really like card game adaptations of board game in general (I am a Knizia fan after all so I'm used to that).
But it'll have pretty cards. I like pretty cards. Perhaps it'll be less complex than its predecessor, too, so I'll be able to play it. 🙂
