I quote myself from an earlier time (so not quite myself anymore):
"From the Deep Water Games announcement, many character packs should be released so you can sure expect Madelyn, Orc Dave, Tizzie probably, maybe Sawyer, and most definitely Gary."
In the end there were no character packs besides Bragga. The other characters have been introduced as "allies". I haven't seen Tizzie, but Orc Dave, Sawyer and Saddie are there I think.
I'm sad they didn't go with a Madelyn character pack. It's the sixth member of the team and she is unplayable! They said they were keeping it for a later occasion (maybe to be sold on their website), which sucks, because I will have to pay more than the price of it in shipping to get it overseas!
And Gary was indeed featured as a special addition to the game.
Fortunately I own enough stellar comic book series to make up for it! I'm always amazed that on average, I find much more really excellent comics than truly terrible ones. This one is actually quite a rarity.
Now, how the publisher let it happen, that I can't explain. It's actually really hard to fathom the utter crappiness of this volume. If you have an ongoing series that is rather successful, why torpedoing it as mercilessly as this?
"No redeemable qualities"... Damn, that, as JW clearly pointed out, "Sucks!" Are you considering expressing your concerns in a message to them? The squeaky wheel gets the grease!" Sometimes "fan feedback" can change things.
I was going to say "Great news", but Athena foresaw it!
Indeed, Bragga is an exceptional character in the series. She joined the Queens in Volume 4 and added a very different personality to the team. Since then she really become one of my favorite and, to me, one of the most interesting character.
Now will we have a Madelyn expansion? I hope so! Orc Dave would be nice as well, Druids are too infrequent in Fantasy board games. (Just no Sadie expansion please.)
@Cadet Stimpy Collector is a bit of a strong word, I would rather say I'm a comic enthusiast. I don't care for issues and don't care too much for the edition (I like consistency though). But yes, I collect a bit: I have, I think, every Star Wars comic (mostly in cheap Dark Horse omnibus collected editions, those were great!), and I have a few complete series (Mice Templar, Jim Zub's D&D, the old Forgotten Realms, Birthright, East of West, Rat Queens, etc.). Comics and board games are definitely my two major sources of unnecessary expense, and one is on par with the other (although board games tend to be more easily out of print and more expensive overall, so I might pounce on opportunities more easily, while I buy my comic books new when I feel so).
@Zerbique Enthusiast. That's a good noun. Would you say you had over 100Kg of comics? Shit, I wonder how much all my games weigh in total? Sounds like a tedious research project I could embark on. Z, do you ever look on Ebay, or wherever, to see how much any of your more rare issues may be worth? Might be fun.
Regarding 'unnecessary expenses', if it gives one happiness, perhaps it's worth it. If it's truly expendable income, why not? It's not an evil pursuit. 🙂 Over the years (remember, I'm old), I've probably pissed-away enough money on stuff I didn't need to by a decent 2nd home (which I wouldn't need, either). Too late now! LOL! But, I was happy.
@Cadet Stimpy I don't have any single issues (or very few of them), I don't like them as they are flimsy and full of annoying advertising. I'm always waiting for collected TPB editions, which are not worth too much money usually. I only have a few X-Men issues I tried to sold once but they weren't worth much (around $10 the issue). And a few recent Star Wars issues that have not been collected to my knowledge, but then I won't sell them nor try to see how much they're worth.
More than 100kgs of comics? Hm. I don't know, it seems like a lot. But more than 50, for sure.
I have nothing against unnecessary expenses myself, but these are expenses that I have the freedom not to do -unlike food, rent, etc.

Well, if you want to know what I thought of the eighth (and possibly final) volume of the series, it's here.

Good news for Zerbique.
