I remember when I first saw the movie and thought it wasn’t that bad even though I knew nothing about the series. I was interested enough to eventually watch it on Netflix. It wasn’t mind-blowing, but the cast instantly drew me in to the point that I could easily have watched more (had the show not been cancelled.) In fact, that may have been part of its charm for me: knowing it was a good show that was prematurely pulled from development.
I've only heard about the show through Big Bang Theory in which Sheldon is a fan. Knowing the series has been discontinued never incentivized me to watch it.
Yes, I was disappointed as well (I watched it from the beginning). But just consider the series a glimpse into another universe and don't bother too much about an ending. Also - it's pulp, but entertaining.
I picked up Outer Rim instead as well (never played it, nor any pick up and deliver game). I figure if i enjoy that one I may check out Firefly as well. I guess its all about the theme.

Why did you want it so badly? For the show? For the gameplay? For the deliciously appropriate combination of both?
