I liked the art a lot, but I didn't like the game. It was 'timed' and based on the 15 Square Puzzle thing, which I always hated. But, it was very quick, so I didn't have to play for long - and I lost...

Deck-building played a significant part in the game, but with an interesting twist. All the cards are sequentially numbered. The cards were dual-purpose, and if you wanted to use the 'powers' of cards, you always used only two cards. The twist was, after exercising the powers of the two cards, you had to exile the higher numbered card from the game! That was actually cool, IMHO. I really liked it. Sadly, 2-4 Players, not 1-4 Players...
P.S. I found the game to be a bit less "thinky" then my recent play of Meadow.
I almost backed Rune Stones when it was on KS (fairy/celtic art is a sure win with me) but in the end I decided it wasn't good value. And no solo. If I find it cheap it at some point I'll gladly give it a try.
Mesozooic didn't tempt me at all, what you said about it rules it out even more.
