Mine is like a Strange Brew, with something different always bubbling to the top.
The latest rising bubble is Maglev Metro (1-4 Players).
Part of the appeal is that the reverse side of the board is Berlin, Germany/DE (as opposed to Manhattan), which is where my oldest daughter was born. 🙂 Some other appealing factors are that according to a Video on BGG, some of the tiles are transparent (except for a colored stripe for the players particular Ubahn line) and can be stacked on top of one another, without obscuring the tile beneath it. The railcars are plastic on top and metal on the bottom, and the Meeples ride in 'em. 🙂 The boards have recesses for passengers and stations to help keep the pieces in place. I like the engine-building and pickup and delivery aspects of the game, too.
That reminds me of one of my games that's less "modern", Flightplan (1985). Meeples ride in the planes, as you transfer your passengers to and from different airports.
@Cadet Stimpy you had me all excited when you mentioned "Strange Brew". I thought you were talking about our Canadian Classic movie, Strange Brew.
I'd say now my top games I'm going after are;
Lords of Waterdeep (I have the digital version, but of course I prefer tabletop)
Brass Birmingham
Ascension: Deck Building Game (I have the digital of this and Star Realms which I got, like LOWD just to see if I like them. I like Ascension a bit better than Star Realms, and would love the physical version)
Maglev Metro looks very good indeed! I'll check the rules when it's time to write a post about it. I'm thinking about purchasing either Hallertau or Faiyum.
