Take a look at Sanctum It's basically Diablo the dice game. You run through several levels killing monsters acquiring gear. Gear basically allow for dice manipulation. After several levels you face the end boss. Did you make the right choices in gear to beat him? 😉 It has an official solo mode (published on BGG) and also the red health and blue mana stats.
I personally like it as the dice manipulation is really fun. My only gripe is that the end boss has a fair amount of different rules compared to the rest of the game. And the end boss can be though (not unfairly brutal but never a joke). As a fellow dice lover, I suspect you might enjoy it. If you want to try it out, I'm willing to borrow you my copy so you can try it out.
I think it's a superbly produced game (and very decently priced) but I did not enjoy it too much and sold it quickly. The game indeed plays in two parts. The first part is fun but quite "on-rails". The last part (boss fight) is just insanely brutal, and as Wouter Cordewiner mentioned, the rules are really different.
Well, if you do that, maybe I'll spend the summer playing Diablo III, which I have on my Xbox 360. I barely played it, but I enjoyed how you can turn it into a twin-stick shooter with the proper character (and I love twin-stick shooters).
My video game dream would be a twin-stick shooter Metroidvania, with lots of exploration and secrets.
But to be honest, I think the current offer on video games is so rich and diverse that I am not looking forward to any upcoming release anymore. Well, maybe Hollow Knight 2.
One day I read on BGG that the best board game adaptation of Diablo was Hungry Hungry Hippos.
The Demon Hunter is good fun with the old mouse and keyboard as well. Somehow I've played both Wizard and Monk more, but I think this character came available later.
