Sunday afternoon, I decided to give the first scenario of Eleven: Football Manager a try (the scenarios that came with the base game). I used all expansions except the International Cup expansion.
In this first scenario, you're put in charge of a third division club aiming to avoid relegation (finishing in the bottom two of the table). You're challenged with a couple extra goals in addition to that for more VPs...
Train 3 youngsters on your team
Hire 4 staff (from four different colour groups)
**In the end, your VPs in this scenario aren't the main objective. Your main focus is staying in the third division.
Setup is tweaked slightly as well; You take out all regular players that have a strength of more than '1'. I like this simple tweak as it mimics a true third division club that probably can't attract the stronger players to the same extent as higher divisions. You need to rely heavily on building the club in this regard.
My club's logo is the yellow logo on the league table (right). As you can see, we JUST made it - finishing third from the bottom. PHEW!!
I managed to achieve both scenario goals that were set out, though there were some tight games in the season. I was lucky with an early keeper available to sign and train in the early weeks which definitely helped!
Feeling pretty good about myself, having completed the scenario on my first try, I read through scenario 2 afterwards as I was putting things away;
and suddenly I began to worry. 😮 Scenario 2 will be tough!
