Just for fun I went to UPS with a 4oz/0.113kg package (a small padded envelope) that was under 7"x5"x1"/18cm x 13cm x 2.5cm. It was basically a thick deck of cards. Athena is the furthest away from me (6,200mi/10,000km), so how much would it cost to ship it to her? $134/€112/CAD168. What?!?! Interestingly, it was several times cheaper via USPS.
Athena, this is a lot to ask, but if you ever get bored, would you please call your local UPS store (if there is one) and ask about the shipping cost for the same package to Colorado (U.S.), Zip 80922? I'd be interested to see how the costs compare, since they're going in different directions (which doesn't seem as if it would matter, but it might). If ya don't feel like doin' it, absolutely no problem. 🙂
I wonder if prices will fall back to normal when the pandemic recedes. I hope so.
This graph tells a lot about the current situation with international shipping.
There isn't a UPS branch nearby but I once checked their website to calculate shipping costs to Europe. It was some crazy amount. So it would be way over 100 euro to send an envelope to the States as well.
