As the resident ST Stonemaier Games fan, I felt compelled to share a quick post on the upcoming NEW game to the Stonemaier family: Stamp Swap.
Regular ST Loner's Lounge readers know, although I love MOST Stonemaier games, I don't want all of them in my collection... And this is one that I'll take a pass and add to that (short) list.
Caroline Black sums up my thoughts perfectly in her BGG blog post that I read the other day. (She really should get out of my head. 🤣)
What I really enjoyed about her post was that in no way did she bash Stonemaier games, this new upcoming game or drive negativity from her post to her readers. It just simply isn't of interest to her, which she shares perfectly without sucking the joy and excitement from those who may be excited for it. I admire this approach and I likened it to how we do things here at Solitaire Times. 😉
I found myself agreeing with her synopsis of this one. For me, it's going on the (small) list of Stonemaier games that I don't have interest in having in my collection. However, there isn't one Stonemaier game that if someone wanted to bring it to the table, I would refuse to play. I just don't have a desire to have them in my collection.
I'm curious to see how this one goes for Stonemaier games, as I find it quite random really. However, I've always loved that about the board gaming industry; There is a board game for EVERYTHING!!! Every theme imaginable (Like Poop: The Game).
This one just doesn't grab my attention...
-According to Caroline's blog post, it's a lower complexity (which the ST gang know are the opposite of my favourites).
-It's not visually appealing to me (Stonemaier for me has AMAZING artwork in so many games)
-The theme is just "ok" to me
-Also according to Caroline's post, it's a filler game. Fairly quick. Which for filler games in my collection, they need to be thematically appealing to me (like Coffee Roaster) .
I always trust Stonemaier Games and I wish nothing but success ALWAYS for the company. In the meantime, I'll take a pass on this one personally, and continue to wait for Vantage to be released. 😉
I agree with you. Even though I don't personally enjoy Stonemaier Games designs, they are at the very least appealing products I am always eager to learn a bit more about. In this case I just skipped without blinking.
