Well, easy for me, it would be Root. Take the same game mechanics and set it in a conflict between Colonial Empires and I would have zero interest in it. The theme is essential in my liking of it. So I'd be very glad to let the theme shines even more.
The only think I'd really like, though, are better tokens. The cardboard ones are boring. I certainly don't want to replace the meeples with minis. These meeples are part of the appeal. They perfectly fit the intimate woodland atmosphere.
