I'll have a lot of catchin'-up to do when I return, as I'm "off the grid" (no Email, etc.) when I travel (which isn't very often). I guess I'll leave a little open space in my suitcase, in case I falter and buy a game or two. 😀
(Catching up on comments). Thanks for posting the pics, Mike! I'm glad you had such a good time, although the hotel price was shocking... I'd probably book another hotel far away and commute by train to the con. 😏
I took this picture from further away than it appears (zoomin'-in from a ways back). I spoke with him for a couple of minutes - he's really nice and polite. I also chatted briefly with Dan Kazmaier (designer of Chai, etc.) and Keith Matejka (designer of Roll Player, etc.).
@Zerbique Definitely "Argh!" on the hotel fee. It was 'connected' to the Convention Center, so you didn't have to actually go outside to get there. The Convention Center was big! Over 566,000 sq/ft (52,600 sq/m). Here's the main hallway, early-on, well before things were hoppin'.
Thanks, Athena! Crap, I'm replying to these backwards. I shoulda started here and gone up. Anyway, there was a large eBay 'booth'. "So what?", you say. Black Lotus card, that's what!

Sorry for the poor lighting, but I was shooting outside of a glass case.

They (eBay) had one other Black Lotus card before, and at auction, they said it sold for $650,000 (€554,795/C$832,585/£475,111)! They think this one will fetch the same amount.
Thanks, JW! Okay, here's the first pic - the cover of the "Program" (about 90 pages (lots of ads)). Artist: Naomi Vandoren (on her business card, under her name, it said, "artist, storyteller, nomad."). According to her assistant, Gen Con approached Naomi about doing the Cover Art.

Oh, I forgot this: The Hotel Key Card - A great advertising plan!
Boat-loads of Bad-Ass Art! Here's a couple of examples...

So, did the suitcase get a little bit fuller in the end?
Happy birthday, Mike!! 🤗 🎂I hope you're having a great time at Gen Con, we are expecting pics when you return! And new game purchases, of course!
Happy Birthday, brother! I must agree with Derek and say you didn’t look your age in the photos you uploaded. Here’s to many more years to come!
Wow, great! Please take some pictures for a report. But most of all, enjoy.
And happy birthday. 🍺
Whoa this is crazy. So I never pinned Mike at 70yrs old (even with some pics) - so well done Mike!
And now this means Z is 30yrs old????
Wooow! Not sure to fully know what the Gen-Con is but I think I've heard it's one of the greatest events in the US!
May you enjoy your birthday present as much as possible and a warm happy birthday to you for whenever it will be relevant!
Also I realize we are born exactly 40 years apart, plus or minus a month or so.
Awesome! Enjoy Mike! And happy birthday!
