Happy Birthday!

Solitaire Times is 5 years old today. Or this week - or at the very least this month. We are not exactly sure. Anyway, thanks for sticking with us. We love you.

I have just returned from a short vacation and like I said before I left, I will need this month to get the website going again. So I plan to do a proper celebration post (featured on the homepage etc.) at the end of August. For now I'm just saying hi 😁

As you may know, forest fires have reached Athens. I checked with Athena, but thankfully she is still safe. She does stay inside because of the smoke and the ashes though.

PS - I can only get one shelf in my shelfie shot, as they're too spread out due to having a couple smaller shelves. Nonetheless, some of my favs are here to show off. 😉

Happy Birthday Solitaire Times!!! I do hope everything turns out ok for Athena 💛 as forest fires sound scary.

August 13 is also my birthday and of course this included a solo board game gift by asking for Nightshift game book. I already died as destroying murals in a prayer room was not the best idea.

I play El Dorado mainly with Nathalie as this is a deck builder with minimal dutch text on the cards. Walls of text on a card doesn't work for Nathalie. And El Dorado is just an overall good game.

Ticket to Ride legacy came as a total surprise and not sure with who I'm going to play this with. Although the person gifting this to me kind of invited himself 😆

Did you AI this, Z? Surely you wouldn't be so serious looking in a real selfie. 😄 But seriously (no pun intended), thanks for posting such a clear picture of yourself. I wondered what you might look like. As it turns out, you don't look much like any of the physicists in the Sci-Fi stories I read. 🙂 Now, if the picture were of you wearing a lab coat and steampunk goggles in front of a discharging Van de Graaff generator, makin' all your hair stand on end... Oh, mentioning the "penguin sentinel" was a good one. 🙂

There was no room left in the basement so had to put a shelf or two in the living room to store more games there.

What pains me is that, on this picture, I have only played 9 of those alluring games. 10 if you count Runebound that can be halfway seen through my hair.

I'm not sure I look that much serious with my wet hair and my pajamas. But I sure look like many other physicists I know. I used to blend in very well in conferences. Then I turned to Linguistics and now I look like the weirdo in the corner.

I have a few Penguin Sentinels in my place as well. They are trained in Antarctica watching for fish for hours in the coldest blizzard without blinking, so there are no better wardens, be assured.
