Experiencing Something new in my Gaming Hobby

Well, I made the leap. Today I've posted a few games for sale on our local marketplace. 😮 I've been hesitant for a while now, but as my collection continues to grow and as space will always be limited, it's necessary. Also, these games just aren't played much anymore, so it's worth a little purge to make way for games that will be. 😀

Hopefully heading to a new table soon are:

Arboretum - The beautiful, yet ruthless card game. 😂

Majesty for the Realm - The fun, simple little game of building up your kingdom.

D-Day Dice (1st ed) w/ Atlantikwall expansion - Wargame with custom dice and lots of strategy.

I don't dislike any of these. They just aren't getting to the table, and they also aren't giving me that "this is awesome" feeling anymore. They're just, "meh". Life's too short for "meh". 🤣

And here begins a new chapter in my gaming hobby... The Purge.

I did that back in December. A lot of 'em my FLGS didn't want, so I threw 'em up on Craig's List and Nextdoor with a really low "package deal" price. It's so much easier if you can get one person to buy 'em all. I sold 33 games to the same guy! I took a financial loss, but I really wanted to get rid of 'em. The were games that didn't play Solo and had no "Solo Variant" (official or unofficial).

I still don't have the fortitude to get rid of games I'm just not playing (as you and others have), since I have more in total than I can play regularly, and I'm still suffering from Collector's Syndrome. 🙁 I'm not an official Hoarder, though (well, I don't think I am)! 🙂

I've sold something like a hundred games (and I think 1 or 2 on BGG). In Paris I was using a very nice second-hand website (through which I got most of my collection, I think). I met plenty of other gamers to hand them over the games, it was nice (if a bit cumbersome at times)!

Now in Belgium I have yet to sell anything.

Most of it ended as financial losses however. Especially when selling games I've never played or played only once. Board games are the worst investment, I think! There are just too many of them, people soon have their shelves cluttered, so even for free they wouldn't want what you may offer - unless it's something very popular.
