Digital can boost the excitement for the Tabletop

A week or so ago, Gloomhaven (digital version) was on for FREE on Epic Games. I've been hesitant to purchase Gloomhaven's digital version because of the tabletop game being so big and epic. Even though I got it for a steal, I want to experience the game at the table. I want the surprises of unlocking places, characters, items etc to be in it's purest form.

But when I saw "FREE", how can you turn that down?? 🤔

I added it to my Epic games library and thought to myself "I'll just slowly (very slowly) play the game as I unlock scenarios at the table". It'll take me forever considering the 'big beast' has only hit the table a handful of times (due to the amount of time and energy you need to play).

This is when I realized a VERY pleasant surprise!!! Gloomhaven digital does of course have the tabletop campaign you can play through. However, it also has a digital-only "Guildmaster mode" which allows you to experience the mechanics and gameplay of Gloomhaven, but with digital only scenarios and storylines!!!! WHOA!!!!

It's a great tool to have; When I don't have time to get Gloomhaven to the table, I can practice the mechanics, learn the rules by playing and experience the feel using the digital version. And all of this without ruining the surprises of the campaign at the table! Awesome!!!! 😃 I've been really enjoying it, and by playing it on the PC, the urge to get it to the table again is growing quickly.

I'm playing the "Guildmaster mode" using the same two characters as my tabletop campaign: The Inox Brute and The Tinkerer. Thankfully they're doing much better in the digital story than at the table. 🤣 My decisions are improving however, and my hand management, so I feel like my tabletop experience is going to be improved for sure.

Currently, the table has a game of Viscounts of the West Kingdom about halfway completed that I plan to finish today. Perhaps Gloomhaven will come off the shelf next??? 😉🤔
