The news I watch is painting a very unpleasant picture of Trudeau. The never before used Emergencies Act?! At first, confiscating the trucker's diesel fuel to "freeze 'em out", but now, freezing their bank accounts (including Crypto), totally without 'due process'. That's some of what I'm hearin'. Here's a Video, labeled "Woman with walker gets trampled by officers on horses". Maybe she just lost her balance, but it doesn't look good. I even heard Trudeau is shutting-down some news outlets (smaller ones, I think it was) in order to suppress the story of what's goin' on. From where I sit, your government looks out-of-control! I truly hope it's not as grim as it appears.
Shit, you live in Ottawa, don't ya? Please stay safe!
"They're not even a real country, anyway", he sings. 😄
Still.
For some reason, I thought you lived in Ottawa. I couldn't find that Thread about your Wellness Center and where it was. I hear ya about the news, there isn't much "good" on it at all. I only watch it about once a week myself, 'cause as you pointed-out, it's usually just more bad news on top of the previous bad news. Please just gimme the happy story about saving a dog that was stuck in a sewer pipe!
I wish Trudeau would've just lifted the Mask Mandates - problem solved! Those pesky truckers and their damned "freedom" BS. Actually, I side with 'em (I like the "freedom thing"), as I thought peaceful protests were legal in Canada. Here in the U.S., our left-wing "peaceful protesters" tip-over statues, burn-down local businesses, and loot stores, so honkin' horns in the middle of the night seems pretty tame. Your protesters have a legitimate goal, whereas ours are often just a bunch of total assholes doing a ton of serious property damage - upwards of 2 billion dollars in the Summer of 2020 - to the cities they live in! That was helpful, you f**king dumb asses.
I hate politics, too. Well, enough of that. I need to shut-off the news and get to the gamin' table!
P.S. I'm glad you're far away from the chaos.
Honestly, Mike - I do my best to avoid the news. It's nothing but this kind of BS that just causes stress. My last couple years have been tough enough, I don't need all that crap to worry about as well.
Kind of to elude to what Z said in his comment; A client of mine's best friend is a police officer. Before the 'emergencies act' was called into play, they had to bring officers from all over the province to do their best to keep things under control (which took away from local law enforcement duties). I was told the cops have their own opinions of how they'd like to handle things, but of course their hands are tied and they have to follow orders. I didn't click your video link, because of course those are the videos that like to go viral, yet I bet you can find an equal amount that show WHY the police have been pulled from their municipalities to be there. 😓
I really don't want to get into political talk because I truly hate it, but it can go both ways. When people say Trudeau's methods are "confrontational", others can argue that the truckers way was the same (honking horns various times throughout the day causing people to lose sleep, increase frustration and anger... truckers preventing food deliveries and pickups which impacts not only people in general, but stores and restaurants... truckers blocking streets etc with hundreds of trucks .... ) This is why I don't watch the news. It's constant negative stories and/or loaded with BS information that only sparks more BS.
The past two years have devided humans like no other time in my lifetime. It makes me sick to my stomach. And of course, with the internet and algorhythms, you can find a ton of info that feeds the need for whatever side of the argument you're on. There's no such thing as ACTUAL fact and reasoning anymore. 😫
Honestly, as I type this (just talking about it with you, not even arguing) I can feel myself getting anxious and uptight. It's awful. With that, as a Fitness and Health Coach I think about those who read/watch this kind of news DAILY (multiple times per day in some cases) and what is happening mentally and physically to them!! It's scary.
*On a more positive note, I don't live there. 🤣 We're about 2.5hrs from Ottawa.
I know nothing except news may not be as reliable as they used to be in the past; see us on ST, announcing KS launches that never happen, or ignoring some that will or did launch (censorship? an overall lack of competence? who knows!).
P.S. It was also reported Trudeau made no attempt to talk/negotiate with the truckers, but instead, he opted for the much more "confrontational" approach.
