Marvel Champions was never in doubt to have on my shelf. However, it took me a bit to admittedly get into this game. I can't explain why... it just did. Once I did - the game just continues to get better and better. I have so much fun when I bring this to the table, despite being very good at losing. 🤣 It's just so fun to battle different enemies and scenarios with different heroes and combination of heroes!
Now, I'm 58 plays in and counting and hooked. I now own 7 additional hero packs, with the 8th coming in (Thor) in the next week or so. 😁 This past week, Star-Lord arrived and as JW mentioned, he's very fun to play with. I have many others on my wishlist, although I won't get them all. I'm getting the packs of characters I know and love. This makes it more enjoyable (and realistic financially).
The way the designer incorporates everything we know and love about each hero is so creative! I just love it!!
As a Marvel fan (mind you I'm becoming less connected with the more recent movies - still fun to watch, but less impactful for me personally), this game just makes me smile.
-The artwork is FANTASTIC. The cards all look SO GOOD!
-The way the heroes and villians work at the table in this game (as I mentioned) is excellent.
-The excitement of opening a new hero pack is nostalgic to me. It's like when I used to collect hockey cards as a kid. It was so exciting to open each pack and see what you got!
-The variety you can play in this game is second to none. It blows my mind.
With my enjoyment of this game growing each time I get it to the table, I plan to invest in some of the expansions that will not only provide a couple more heroes each time, but also new enemies, campaign (in some cases) and scenarios as well, adding EVEN MORE variety to an endless variety already. The Rise of the Red Skull expansion is my first target on my radar for sure! This was the first expansion of this kind, which is now (incredibily) 4-years old! 😯 I also have the Green Goblin scenario pack on my radar very soon as well.
Unless you want to add Green Goblin to your collection because you know the character I'd suggest The Hood as a scenario pack. It adds a lot of encounter sets that you can use in your other plays afterwards.
